New Volkswagen Up

The Volkswagen up! was introduced by the German carmaker in 2011, and so the city car is a relative newcomer to the UK new car market.  The 3-door, 4-seater city car is available to buy new through Volkswagen’s UK main dealer network.  You can locate your nearest Volkswagen main dealer by using the search function on the company’s official UK website, which will also enable you to book a test drive in a new Volkswagen up!
The range starts from just £7,995 for the entry-level Volkswagen Take up! As with all models in the range this boasts a 6-valve, 1.0-litre petrol engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox.  The Volkswagen Take up! has a combined fuel economy return of 62.8mpg, and with 105g/km of CO2 emissions it falls into Road Tax Band B.  It is also cheap to insure falling into the lowest insurance group one.  Equipment is sparse on the entry-level Take up! – you get power steering, immobiliser, CD player with MP3 connectivity, and driver, passenger, and front side airbags.  Central locking, stability control, electric front windows, bluetooth, and sat nav, can all be specified as optional extras.
Moving on up to the Volkswagen Move up! – the mid-range specification – you get the same performance and economy figures, but with the standard equipment list growing to include central locking, stability control, air conditioning, and electric windows.  The Volkswagen Move up! is available from £9,080.
The top-of-the-range Volkswagen High up! is available from £10,515, and benefits from a slightly more powerful version of the 1.0-litre petrol engine, rising from 59bhp to 73bhp.  As a result, performance is improved marginally but combined fuel economy falls to 60.1mpg.  The Volkswagen High up! adds alloy wheels, electric door mirrors, bluetooth, and sat nav to the list of standard equipment.
Both the Move up! and the High up! are also available as BlueMotion Technology models, for £9,440 and £10,875 respectively.  These fuel efficient models boast combined fuel economy figures of 68.9mpg and 67.3mpg, but their coup de grace is a CO2 emissions reading of under 100g/km, resulting in exemption from Road Tax and the London Congestion Charge.
All new models in the Volkswagen up! range come with a 3-year, 60,000-mile manufacturers warranty, and boast a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
